ELD Malfunctions
Paper Logs
If a driver has an ELD malfunction that malfunction must be noted on the drivers logs at the time of malfunction. All drivers are required to have the last 8 days of logs. All drivers’ MUST know how to correctly fill out a paper log in the event that their ELD malfunctions or stops working.
The below metrics must be filled out to be deemed legal:
- 1. Date
- 2. Total daily miles driving
- 3. Truck or tractor & trailer number
- 4. Name of carrier
- 5. Driver’s signature/certification
- 6. 24-hour period starting time (e.g. midnight, 9:00am, noon, 3:00pm)
- 7. Main office address
- 8. Remarks
- 9. Name of co-driver
- 10. Total hours (right right edge of grid)
- 11. Shipping document number(s), or name of shipper and commodity
These are the 11 things that MUST be on a driver’s logs at all times. Both ELD and paper logs.
